Jack, when Putin first invaded Ukraine, he thought he would be able to capture the country in a matter of weeks. Some 600 days later, the people of Ukraine have shown unbreakable resilience as they continue to fight for their independence.

The Ukrainian military has been able to outlast the Russian army for so long because of generous international support, led by the United States. However, thanks to the House Republicans, continued funding is in jeopardy.

Republicans have looked for any opportunity available to cut funding to Ukraine. Just last week, the funding was at the center of defense appropriations bills to keep the government open. Now, after Republicans ousted their speaker, Congress is left nonfunctional, with no spending bills, let alone Ukraine funding, coming up for vote. Any future Ukraine funding will be determined by the next speaker of the House, which seriously jeopardizes future support.

Even though the Republican chaos jeopardizes U.S. military assistance, we, as American citizens, can still be effective by supporting international charities that continue to aid the people of Ukraine.

Millions of Ukrainian citizens are still living in areas ravaged by the war and with winter approaching those citizens will need our help. Please donate what you can to support four charities that are working on the frontline helping refugees and those displaced by the Russian violence: Razom for Ukraine, World Central Kitchen, International Fund for Animal Welfare, and Americares. All of these charities are providing the basic necessities for those in need.
