The Southwest Butterflies Retreat (SWBR) focuses on the resiliency of our Indigenous LGBTQ2S+ people. The retreat will provide a space that is focused on connecting & cultivating a cohort of Indigenous gender-queer youth between the ages of 16-25 to strategize how to break the cycles of violence amongst our self-identified womyn, mxn, children, & LGBTQ2S+ relatives. We also hope that participants will be encouraged to continue to advocate for our LGBTQ2s+ relatives

This retreat will focus on the following areas:
  • Provide an overview on gendered violence with insight towards murdered and missing Indigenous womyn and LGBTQ2s+ relatives
  • Explore creative strategies restoring land-relations in our own Tribal communities

Registration limited to 30 | Food will be provided | lodging will not be provided
It is our hope that the participants of our workshop will come away feeling supported, encouraged, and reenergized to continue to work towards youth-centered organizing and activism within their own Indigenous Nations.

Our hope with the Southwest Butterflies Retreat is to create a space where critical dialogues can occur in an environment that fosters these conversations and actions in addition to holding space for a needed debriefing on trauma and healing.
