Design for Change Contest

POSTER DESIGN CONTEST

Submissions accepted: February 1, 2020 - March 15, 2020

Winner announced: April 4, 2020

The theme for this poster design contest is GOTC (Get Out the Count.) We want to remind the community to participate in the 2020 Census and educate on the importance of being counted. Your design should not need an

explanation, and should incorporate the OCA logo, anyhow you’d like, somewhere on the poster. (Download logo here.) You may change the colors of the logo, but must keep ADVOCATE under the OCA graphic.

Please send your 8.5”x11” (2550 x 3300 pixels) design in high quality PNG/JPG, Ai, or PDF file to Thu Nguyen at [email protected]. These posters will be printed for the 2020 OCA Convention. By submitting your design, you are agreeing to allow OCA full printing rights if you win the contest.

Here's what we worked on in January and February!
  • We endorsed and supported the introduction of the New Way Forward Act in Congress alongside partner SEARAC.
  • We lead the AAPI and ANNAPISI constituency in passing FUTURE Act with strong bipartisan support in the House and Senate, and had it signed into law by the President.
  • We continue to make strategic connections to advance our Chinese American Racial Profiling priorities, including submitting FOIA requests and connecting with CAPAC (Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus).
  • We continue to craft new legislation alongside our Latinx partners MALDEF and UNIDOS to protect AAPI, Latinx, and other immigrant families.
  • We are readying for the release of our Voter Toolkits to celebrate a big new 2020 year of VOTING!
    • Check out the Voter Toolkits here.
  • The passage of bipartisan HR 35 (2020) was a monumental success. This clarifies that offenses involving lynching are designated as hate crimes.
The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) is thrilled to announce that ASIAN AMERICANS, the most ambitious television chronicle of the Asian American story in the United States, will premiere on PBS during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month on May 11 & 12, 2020. They will be offering local community organizations and student organizations the opportunity to host preview screenings in March and April for ASIAN AMERICANS. It's a 5-part history series that explores the evolving identity, contributions, and challenges experienced by Asian Americans. Click here to sign up/host a local screening. There is also a Facebook link to share with others.
