Jack, Republicans are set to vote on a new speaker next week and it looks two men are emerging as early frontrunners:

Steve Scalise, who as House majority leader was Kevin McCarthy's number two, but who's probably most famous for allegedly calling himself "David Duke without the baggage."
Jim Jordan, who came to fame as a member of the Benghazi committee that Republicans created to smear Hillary Clinton before her run for president and, now as Judiciary Committee chairman, is itching to impeach President Biden.

Let me be frank: Both of them are terrible. Any Republican speaker would be, but these two would both be particularly awful. It's not yet clear if either of them has the votes to become speaker, but we have the power to make sure that whoever Republicans elect is a short-term speaker.

Eighteen Republicans represent districts carried by President Biden in 2020. We only need to flip five of them to take back the House. That's why I'm asking you to donate $1 to each of these 18 Democratic nominee funds. All the money you donate to them will be held in escrow and then transferred to the Democratic candidate when they win their primary next year, giving them a huge boost as they head into the general election.

I'll keep this brief, Jack, because there ain't a lot to say. Today's vote to depose Kevin McCarthy is as hilarious as it is pathetic.

Republicans only just barely won control of the House in 2022, despite their own predictions of a big red wave.
It took McCarthy 15 ballots to secure the speakership, which he only got by making a bunch of concessions to his party's most extreme members.
Now his kowtowing to these MAGA extremists has come back to bite him in the @$$.
