Today was one of the gravest and most devastating days in Israel’s history.
We stand with the people of Israel who lost loved ones, friends and neighbors and faced unimaginable horror in today’s Palestinian terror attacks. It is difficult to comprehend the scope and scale of the invasion and assault from Hamas on innocent Israelis.
As I write you this evening, we know that at least 300 Israelis have been killed, 1,590 injured, and an unknown number—at least dozens—have been abducted into Gaza. The images and videos from Israel and Gaza are incredibly difficult to watch.
President Biden and members of Congress have issued strong statements of support for our ally and partner Israel.Click here to see a compilation of statements.
In Prime Minister Netanyahu’s phone call with President Biden, he thanked the president for his support and said, "there is going to be a prolonged and intense military campaign, but Israel will win."
The Israel Defense Forces have already begun targeting key Hamas sites in Gaza with air strikes while troops are still operating inside of Israel to take back communities currently being held by Hamas.
Today, the world stands with Israel. But experience tells us that this support will likely dissipate as soon as Israel acts to defend itself. It’s up to us to ensure America’s leaders continue to stand resolutely with Israel, no matter how long its response to this barbarism takes.
Over the next days, weeks and months, the Israel Defense Forces will take decisive actions to destroy the threat confronting its people and security.
This sustained campaign is not one of Israel’s choosing, but Hamas and Iran have made such action unavoidable. The military is preparing to enter the world’s most densely populated area to root out a terrorist threat that has deliberately embedded itself into civilian population centers.
As supporters of Israel, it’s our responsibility to ensure America stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the Jewish state. If you have not yet had a chance to contact Congress, please click here to do so now. Please also forward this email and action link to all friends and family.
May God protect the people of Israel and the brave soldiers of the IDF.
Sincerely,
Brian Shankman
