Do you remember how Trudeau campaigned in the last election?



He ran an incredibly cynical campaign in which he vilified the unvaccinated and manufactured a wedge issue.



He campaigned on travel restrictions that would prohibit the unvaccinated from traveling by plane, train or boat.



He said things like:



“...don't think you can get on a plane or a train beside vaccinated people and put them at risk”.



And:



“It’s a very small group of people, but that doesn’t shy away from the fact that they take up space. This leads us, as a leader and as a country, to make a choice: Do we tolerate these people?”



This was an absolutely vile style of politics. It was downright un-Canadian.



Not to mention the irony. The man who had built his brand as a progressive champion, constantly virtue-signaling to religious, ethnic and sexual minorities was now actively othering a minority group — the unvaccinated — and advocating for discrimination.



On top of that, his claims were not factually or scientifically accurate.



At the time it was already known that the vaccine did not prevent transmission of the virus. It didn’t matter if people sitting beside each other were vaccinated or not, the chances of passing along the virus was the same.



This was nothing but fear-mongering. It helped Trudeau secure another mandate, but he fractured the country in the process.



The PPC was the only party to push back on this vile rhetoric. The fake Conservative party cowered in fear, too scared to stand up for the unvaccinated, or for common sense.



The PPC may not have won any seats in the last election, but that’s not going to stop me from holding Trudeau accountable for this disgusting style of politics.



Last year, I launched a constitutional challenge against Trudeau’s discriminatory travel mandates.



Shortly before our hearing, the government announced that they would be suspending the mandates.



Convenient timing, eh?



Just before our hearing was supposed to go forward, we received notice from the judge that we wouldn’t be going to trial.



She had sided with the government lawyers. She ruled that the case was moot, that it was not relevant since Trudeau had suspended the mandates.



We were told that the use of judicial resources for a five-day hearing, when the travel mandate had already been lifted, outweighed the public interest in having the case heard on the merits.



This was an absolutely unacceptable decision, and set a chilling precedent.



Our government can impose arbitrary and discriminatory mandates, violate our Chart rights, but then suspend them before they can be challenged in court to avoid scrutiny.



This is not how our democracy is supposed to function.



The mandates weren’t even revoked; there is nothing to stop Trudeau from reimposing his discriminatory restrictions tomorrow if he thought it benefited him politically.



Obviously I wasn’t going to accept this decision. I have a duty to stand up for the people. I immediately started working on an appeal with my legal team.

Please register even if you can not attend. One of the reasons the judge provided when deeming our challenge moot was the lack of public interest. We need as many registrations as possible to show that the public is indeed interested in this case.

These types of lawsuits are crucial to hold the government accountable, but it’s incredibly expensive to compete with the behemoth resources the government lawyers have access to.



We all know that the Conservatives aren’t going to hold Trudeau accountable on this issue.



Erin O’Toole did nothing about it during the last election. Pierre Poilievre continues to ignore the unvaccinated and the vaccine injured.
