Abe Team,

Short take: Prevent MAGA wannabe Gov. Youngkin from gaining a trifecta (Gov + State House and Senate) in his final year in office to further his crusade against personal freedoms. 

The Reality: There’s no way to overstate the importance of the race in Virginia. It’s a key swing state where all 140 legislative seats are up for grabs; where dangerous MAGA Republicans have a slim edge in the House; and where a thin oppositional lead in the Senate is the only thing standing between the state and the full MAGA treatment under faux-moderate Governor Glenn Youngkin.

Youngkin and House MAGAs have pushed a far-right agenda, attempting to roll back personal freedom, limit voting, unwind sensible gun regulations and hobble common-sense efforts to mitigate climate change. Youngkin is also a possible Presidential aspirant who has endorsed notorious MAGA candidates, including four noxious picks for governor in 2022: Kari Lake (AZ), Paul LePage (ME), Lee Zeldin (NY) and Tudor Dixon (MI).

With early voting well under way, NOW is the time for you to jump in to help hold the Senate, retake the House, and blunt Youngkin’s MAGA ambitions. Another way to view it is that it’s crucial to keep a governing trifecta out of Youngkin’s hands. With that kind of power, he and his cohorts will take ruinous actions on a wide range of issues–and Virginia, in all its moderate glory, will become unrecognizable.

Folks, take a tip from Simon Rosenberg, who noted this week that the early vote looked strong, but that, “there are lots of undecided (and) we cannot take a single vote for granted. We need to put our heads down, blow out the early vote, and bring this critical election home.”
