Congresswoman Tenney's Weekly Newsletter Have questions? Contact Me Here Congress Must Work for the American People, Not Against The American people are fed up with political gamesmanship and dysfunction in Washington. Now is the time for House Republicans to unite as a conference and refocus on our effort to pass conservative appropriations bills. In order to pass spending cuts, gain operational control of our borders, rein in Biden’s bloated bureaucracy, and hold the corrupt Biden family accountable through oversight functions, Republicans must stick together. Next week, we will begin the process of electing a new Republican Speaker of the House and getting to work for the American people! Holding President Biden Accountable for His Crimes President Biden has: ❌ FAILED TO SECURE OUR BORDER ❌ BOTCHED THE AFGHANISTAN WITHDRAWAL ❌ OBSTRUCTED JUSTICE ❌ INVOLVED IN BRIBERY SCHEME It is unacceptable that the President has continued to make policy decisions that violate the Constitution and enrich himself and his family at the expense of the American people. No American, not even the President, is above the law, and Joe Biden must be held accountable as such. On behalf of my constituents and every American, I remain committed to investigating these crimes. Introducing the No IDs for Illegals Act Voting is one of the most sacred rights and responsibilities we have as Americans and should be reserved for the legal citizens of our country. Cities like New York City have already allowed noncitizens to vote, and by granting illegal immigrants Secure Docket Cards, we are one step closer to allowing non-citizens to vote in our federal elections. This week, I introduced the No IDs for Illegals Act, which works to ban federal funding from being used to support these ID cards that would give illegal immigrants access to the sacred rights of United States citizens. READ MORE: Tenney introduces ‘No IDs for Illegals Act’ Democrats MUST put America First and Secure our Border! President Biden JUST realized what we have all known for months: Our country is facing a national security and humanitarian crisis at the border. Finally, after years of allowing illegal immigrants to storm across our Southern border, President Biden has reversed course and announced that he will begin the construction of a border wall. The Left's radical policies continue to incentivize illegal immigration. Restarting the construction of just 20 miles of border wall is too little too late, and does little to stop the flow of illegal migrants into our communities. If we want to end this crisis, the Democrats must stop passing the blame and take responsibility for their policies. Constituents deserve to know how their members of Congress vote, which is why I have explained the votes I have cast in Congress since I was first elected. Those I represent will always know where I stand, and I will continue to prioritize transparency, accessibility, and integrity in everything I do on behalf of New York’s 24th Congressional District. To read more about my votes and see the full list with explanations of all the legislation considered last week by the House, please click here. I voted “Yes” on H.R. 2379, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 616 East Main Street in St. Charles, Illinois, as the "Veterans of the Vietnam War Memorial Post Office". This bill names the post office after the brave and heroic veterans of the Vietnam War who served our country with dedication and honor. This bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 390—0. I voted “Yes” on H.R. 4502, the Modernizing the Acquisition of Cybersecurity Experts Act of 2023. This bill would prohibit federal agencies from setting formal education standards for cybersecurity professionals unless required by law. That would ensure agencies focus on skills and competencies rather than a formalized education setting. As the modern workforce evolves and the price of higher education rises, agencies need to be able to adapt and hire the best candidate for the job, regardless of their formalized training. It is vital for national security and the privacy of Americans that we have competent cybersecurity experts guarding our data. This bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 394—1. Worth Fighting For — The Right To Life Congresswoman Tenney with Reverend Harden, President of CompassCare Pregnancy Services. CompassCare Pregnancy Services is a pro-life pregnancy center located in the Buffalo suburbs, was firebombed in the Summer of 2022. Our Constitution is a pro-life document that recognizes the inherent value of life, individual rights, and freedom. However, in recent years, we have seen these values come under attack with the DOJ’s unwillingness to prosecute attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers and increasing calls from the left to endorse radical policies such as abortion on demand up until the moment of birth. We have seen this firsthand in New York with multiple violent attacks on CompassCare in Amherst, NY, by pro-abortion extremist group Jane’s Revenge. As a mother, I recognize the sanctity of life and the significant role pro-life facilities, groups, and individuals play in our society. That is why, as a member of the Pro-Life Women's Caucus, I have worked closely with organizations such as the Susan B. Anthony List and National Right to Life to fiercely advocate for pro-life policies. To protect our freedoms as a whole, we must protect the lives of those most vulnerable. During the month of October, Respect Life Month, I am highlighting my work to protect the sanctity of life, including my work to ensure your taxpayer dollars will never be used to fund abortions. Cosponsored H.Con.Res.3, Expressing the sense of Congress condemning the recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches: This concurrent resolution condemns recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches and calls on the Biden Administration to use appropriate law enforcement authorities to support their safety. Since the release of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, individuals professing antilife views have targeted, destroyed, or vandalized numerous pro-life facilities, groups, and even churches to further their cause. These violent attacks should be unequivocally condemned, and those responsible must be held accountable by law enforcement. Cosponsored H.R.26, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act: This legislation codifies legal protections for babies after a failed abortion attempt and guarantees these children the same care as any other newborn. The bill would work to reverse the Biden Administration and left-wing extremists’ agenda to refuse to protect all children’s right to life. Cosponsored H.R.7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2023: For years, the bipartisan Hyde Amendment has ensured that taxpayer dollars cannot be used to fund abortions, yet in recent years, the Biden Administration has acted to bypass this principle to push their pro-abortion agenda. This commonsense bill codifies a ban on taxpayer dollars being used for abortions and stipulates that abortions may not be provided in a federal healthcare facility or by a federal employee. The legislation includes exemptions in instances of rape, incest, or where a physical disorder, injury, or illness endangers a woman's life unless an abortion is performed. Cosponsored H.R.128, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2023: This legislation restricts federal funding for Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc. or any of its affiliates or clinics for one year and transfers the funding to proven community health centers, which provide high-quality care to underserved Americans. We should not allow funds for women’s health care to be co-opted by pro-abortion advocacy groups such as Planned Parenthood.
