If there is not a Republican candidate who can secure the necessary 218 votes

John,
It's been a wild week in Washington, D.C. so far, and with the uncertainty
about who will serve as the next Speaker of the House, it's an opportunity for
us to call on our elected leaders to start acting in the best interest of the
American people.
If there is not a Republican candidate who can secure the necessary 218 votes
in the House to become Speaker, then there should be a real effort to bring
some moderate Democrats into a Republican-led coalition that is focused on
governing. I recently spoke about this:

While our country remains divided, I believe that the majority of people want
their elected representatives in Washington, D.C. to find ways to work
together. Where in life do people get 100% of what they want and anything else
short of that is considered to be a failure?
This is the kind of rhetoric that the radical wings of both parties have often
used to capitalize on the anger and fears of Americans. It's one of the main
reasons we're so divided, and it's so toxic for democracy.
The American people are right to expect their elected leaders to be honest
with them, but they're also right to expect those who they send to Congress to
work to solve problems and create better opportunities for all Americans.
If picking up some Democrat votes for a Speaker candidate means giving the
Democrats some votes on their legislation or some better positions on
committees, so what? The republic isn't going to fall!
It's time for the majority of Americans to get engaged again by demanding
that their elected representatives find ways to work together. And if they
refuse, to support new candidates who are there to govern.
I'm out there every week giving speeches, doing media interviews,
communicating on social media and using every other tool at my disposal to give
hope and encouragement to as many Americans as I can.
John - I'm counting on your continued support to ensure that we can keep this
important work moving forward <[link removed]>.

cause and ensure that we can keep up the fight for a better America?
