Africa & Europe
Praise God for amazing opportunities in Kenya to partner with churches during Freedom Sunday. Members of the survivor network made appearances on Christian radio and churches screened a film about one woman, Jacinta, who fought for justice after being falsely accused of a crime. We are grateful for the passion of these churches to be part of seeking justice for members of their community. Pray as we plan for ways to continue church involvement throughout the year.
Latin America
Praise God for bringing justice to a survivor of sexual violence in Bolivia. This week, the IJM-trained PROBOS team successfully achieved a sentence in a legal case representing a child who experienced sexual abuse. The aggressor, a family member, was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Please pray for the complete healing of this child and her family, as well as for the resilience of the legal team members who continue to represent other victims of sexual abuse.
South Asia
Pray for our networking efforts to support survivor self-help groups. Our teams are meeting with different government agencies to strengthen self-help groups that equip survivors of trafficking with financial savings and social support. These groups can be hugely impactful for improving survivor confidence by setting up small businesses that provide a dignified, sustainable income. Pray for strong buy-in from local leaders to help these groups thrive!
Asia Pacific
Praise God for the training of 35 Cambodian police officers! This training, facilitated by IJM, WINROCK International and the General Commissariat of National Police, focused on analyzing human trafficking data. In just three days, participants gained crucial insights into data analysis tools and techniques to bolster their investigations. We're thankful for ongoing collaborations with local justice systems, advancing awareness of trafficking and equipping them with effective tools to combat it.
