Rep. Xiong
Dear Neighbors,
I hope you?re enjoying our beautiful Minnesota autumn. As a member of the House Capital Investment Committee, I especially appreciated the fall colors on our recent trek up to Northeastern Minnesota to tour infrastructure project requests from Pine City, Duluth, Ely, Tower, Virginia, Hibbing, Chisholm, Biwabik, Silver Bay, Wyoming, Rush City, back down to Gem Lake. DFLers continue to prioritize these bipartisan tours to hear from local communities in every corner of the state-blue or red- about the need for local infrastructure support.

*30,000 Feet*
30,000 Feet recently held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the capital investment, workforce and legacy funds I helped pass to support our Eastside youth in career pathway programs. The nonprofit also focuses on the arts, technology, and social justice and will utilize some of these funds to build a community center.?

*Twin Cities RISE!*
We also passed workforce funding this last legislative session for Twin Cities RISE! My wife and I had the honor of joining local community leaders to celebrate their 30th Anniversary. We were grateful to have had the privilege of meeting many individuals who have benefited from the wonderful services of this organization over the years, including many Eastside residents! We heard from a young African American woman who was uplifted as a single parent. We heard from another young Hmong parent whose life was transformed. We do the best when we help others rise.?
As Minnesotans, few other organizations exemplify the Minnesota Nice ethos of helping our neighbors and uplifting them as Twin Cities R!SE does. This great organization helps people become stronger individuals and move beyond barriers to reach their full potential.

*Hmong Chamber of Commerce*
I was honored to have recently been invited to the Hmong Chamber of Commerce?s community event. It was great to be with community and business leaders to support this organization that helps our Hmong businesses thrive and grow. Their work merits community investment which is why I successfully advocated for workforce development funding at the Capitol this year.

East Side Area Business Association?
The ESABA held their fall event yesterday evening at the Carpenter?s Union Hall on October 5th. I appreciated the opportunity to attend and celebrate the ongoing impact and diversity of assets our Eastside business community contributes to our history, and our local economy. A big congrats to Cups and Cheers on earning the 2023 Eastside Saint Paul Business of the Year Award!?

*Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio (CLUES)*
Recently, Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio (CLUES) held an event to celebrate Latino leadership and culture in Minnesota. Their work with the latino community is incredible, serving individuals and families from all walks of life including new immigrants and low-income families who dream of a better future. I was more than happy to support their capital investment request for the construction of a Latino Outreach Facility.

*Indigenous People?s Day?*
After recognizing Indigenous Peoples? Day via proclamation in recent years, Minnesota will observe Indigenous Peoples? Day as a state-recognized holiday on October 9th. chools choosing to remain open will devote at least one hour to informing students about its significance. This session, I joined my legislative colleagues to enact the change following years of advocacy by the Minnesota House Native American Legislative Caucus and members of the eleven tribal nations in Minnesota.
