Howdy y’all!
We are excited to say that our Houston DSA Political Education working group is restarting the night school after a long hiatus, and we would love to see you there! Our first session will be at 7 pm on Monday Oct. 9th at the Montrose Center, 401 Branard Street 77006 in room 111.
To begin our first module, “What is Capitalism?,” we will read and discuss the first chapter of The Communist Manifesto. You do not have to do any homework ahead of time! Bring a device you can read on, and join in.
If we are going to defeat Capitalism, we must first understand how this system works. This is so important, we have four classes before we begin the module “Why Socialism?” The manifesto shows its age, but there is still a lot to learn.
Unfortunately, things have not changed as much as Marx hoped. Even if you have read it before, discussing the text with comrades in real-time will allow all of us to see the text in new ways. This isn’t a stuffy reading of abstract history. We are going to talk about how Marx applies to us right now in the modern day.
