In case you missed it, Governor Walz visited Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing in Hibbing to highlight state investments in the Iron Range.
⚙️The state supported the manufacturing company with $500,000 infrastructure grant and $10 million loan.Â
"Whether it's the microchips that make our cars run or the electric batteries that are increasingly powering machinery, Minnesota is a state that leans into innovation, manufacturing, and production. I saw that in action today at Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing in Hibbing," said Governor Walz.Â
Governor Walz also visited a public safety center in Chisholm.
🖊️This spring, the Governor signed the state’s largest-ever infrastructure bill into law, which included $3 million for the new public safety center.Â
Lieutenant Governor Flanagan visited John Adams Middle School in Rochester to highlight new state investments in education – from universal free breakfast and lunch to new resources to get every child reading at or above grade-level.Â
"We made the single-largest investment in public education in state history this year," said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. "We’re making sure schools like John Adams Middle School in Rochester have the tools to care for their students."Â
Governor Walz proclaimed Saturday, September 30, as the Day of Remembrance for the Children Who Died While Attending United States Indian Boarding Schools. Minnesota had 23 Indian boarding schools – 21 of which were directly supported by state or federal resources. Â
"Today we honor the survivors of the U.S. Indian boarding schools and all the children who never returned home. We are committed to ensuring the ongoing impacts of these schools are not forgotten as we work toward a future that Minnesotans can be proud of,"Â said Governor Walz.Â
"This is Minnesota’s history. This is our nation’s history. We’re committed to ensuring that the ongoing legacy of Indian boarding schools – including the link to disparities in health and child welfare – are never forgotten. The whole truth must be told for justice to follow," said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan.Â
