Hello, Friends —
During the contest for Speaker of the House in January, I wanted to lead a group of Representatives in changing the way the House of Representatives operates. Before House conservatives allowed a Speaker to hold the gavel, we got a commitment from Kevin McCarthy that he would bring single-subject spending bills to the House floor with open amendments, vote on a balanced budget and term limits, release the January 6th tapes, and commit to not using Democrat votes to pass legislation that advances the priorities of Joe Biden. Unfortunately, for eight long months, Speaker McCarthy was in breach of that agreement.

On Monday, I filed a motion to vacate Speaker McCarthy on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. While there have been minor improvements, like taking a vote on term limits in the House Judiciary Committee and passing four of the 12 single-subject spending bills, this progress was only made after House conservatives ratcheted up the pressure on our leadership. After weeks of failure theater that resulted in Republicans teaming up with Democrats to pass a continuing resolution that funds Ukraine, funds Jack Smith's election interference against President Trump, and abandons E-Verify to continue Joe Biden's open-border policies, I chose to put the American people First.

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives removed Speaker McCarthy from his chair, which was the first time in our nation's history a Speaker has ever been removed by a vote. While I led the charge, these seven brave Republicans voted with me: Reps. Andy Biggs, Ken Buck, Tim Burchett, Eli Crane, Bob Good, Nancy Mace, and Matt Rosendale. I'm proud to be joined by these true conservatives who hold the American people in higher regard than the D.C. Uniparty.
While I have been accused of throwing the House of Representatives into "chaos," I reject the notion that forcing my colleagues to vote on whether to hold the speaker accountable is any such thing. Rather, I think $33 trillion in debt is chaos; I think not passing single-subject spending bills is chaos; I think governing by continuing resolutions and omnibus spending bills is chaos; and I think having a Speaker whom we cannot trust with his word is chaos.
We must make reforms to the way the House of Representatives operates if we are going to end the chaos Congress creates for the American people. It is time to bring single-subject spending bills to the House floor under an open-amendment process, follow budget laws we have been out of compliance with for decades, and elect a more trustworthy speaker of the House in the coming days. This course of action would foster trust, honesty, and understanding, and is necessary to empower individual representatives to legislate and discover solutions for the American people.
REP. GAETZ: "MY MISSION IS TO CHANGE CONGRESS FOR THE BETTER"

On Wednesday, I joined Bloomberg Television's "Balance of Power," where I discussed my plan to change the House of Representatives for the better. Over the past several decades, our nation has been ensnared in a perpetual cycle of shutdown politics. Instead of proactive governance, we've been operating reactively, often finding ourselves cornered by impending crises.
Unfortunately, this tumultuous state of affairs has only been exacerbated by a notable lack of fiscal responsibility. In fact, for the past 30 years, there seems to have been almost no fiscal accountability at all. Our country deserves better, and I firmly believe that now, more than ever, it is imperative that we usher in a new era of change. We need a Congress that is transparent and responsible — not a Congress with a spending addiction.
REP. GAETZ ON FOX: WE SHOULD NOT GO HOME UNTIL WE ELECT A NEW SPEAKER
On Tuesday, I joined "The Ingraham Angle" on Fox News to tell the American people that we should get to electing a new, more conservative and more trustworthy Speaker immediately. Patrick McHenry, who is currently the Speaker Pro Tempore, made the decision to send everyone in Congress home for a week. This is not the time to go home for a week. Congress should stay and elect a new Speaker.
REP. GAETZ INTRODUCES BILL TO CURB ABUSE OF NATIONAL SECURITY CLEARANCES
This week, I introduced the "Security Clearance Revolving Door Act of 2023." My bill, if passed, will prevent individuals from publicly disclosing if they have a national security clearance. The legislation will also classify the act of publicly disclosing a national security clearance as a federal misdemeanor, with up to a year in prison and up to a $1,000 fine per offense.
On October 19, 2020, a faction of 51 former intelligence officials signed a letter suggesting that the Hunter Biden emails emerged from a "Russian information scheme." Following the censorship of the New York Post's exposé on the emails by Big Tech and media tycoons, the New York Times confirmed the legitimacy of the emails on March 17, 2022. The prestige attached to the security clearances of these 51 officers was skillfully maneuvered against the American people, manipulating the facts of 2020 presidential election.
The American people know that the Deep State primarily exists because of the widespread abuse of national security clearances by people who were trusted to act in the interests of our country. The security apparatus has been deftly turned against its citizens, skewing political perceptions, particularly those resonating with President Donald Trump. These 51 ex-intelligence officials, conspiring with past administrations, aimed to obscure revelations linking the Bidens to questionable foreign enterprises.
The intel officials used their clearances as badges of credibility, peddling deceit to mold the 2020 election outcome. In order to ensure that this never happens again, it is incumbent upon members of Congress to support this vital piece of legislation.

Matt Gaetz's Vote Succeeds in Ousting Kevin McCarthy as Speaker
"The House voted on Rep. Tom Cole's (R-OK) motion to table Gaetz's move, which was rejected with the support of ten House Republicans. Regarding his move to oust McCarthy, Gaetz said: 'I take no lecture from those who would grovel and bend knee for the lobbyists and special interests who own our leadership, hollow out this town, and borrow against the future of our future generations.'"

EXCLUSIVE: Gaetz To Introduce Legislation To Combat 'Widespread Abuse' Of National Security Clearances
"'The American people know that the Deep State primarily exists because of the widespread abuse of national security clearances by people who were trusted to act in the interests of our country. The national security state has been weaponized against Americans to control and influence their political beliefs, especially if they align with President Donald Trump,' Gaetz told the Caller before introducing the legislation."

Rep. Matt Gaetz Of Florida Calls Out Biden For Appointing Hunter Associate Hampton Dellinger
"The New York Post reported that Dellinger worked on the Crisis Management and Government Response team at the well-heeled law firm of Boies Schiller Flexner in 2014. Hunter picked Dellinger’s firm to assist Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company on whose board Hunter sat that eventually came under investigation for corruption. Reports in conservative media note that it is unclear if Dellinger provided legal services to Burisma, which saw the Ukrainian investigation wither after 2015, when then-Vice President Biden pledged to withhold U.S. aid until Ukrainian officials fired their lead prosecutor. But emails pulled from Hunter’s notorious laptop show the pair met on at least two occasions. The appointment matters because the corrupt practices that have prompted an impeachment inquiry into President Biden were revealed or confirmed by IRS whistleblowers. In a statement, Gaetz noted that the agency Dellinger was nominated to head is responsible for 'protecting our nation's civil servants from political targeting.'"

Gaetz knocks Speaker pro tem for sending lawmakers home to 'cry for a week'
"'We should be here tomorrow, working to elect a new Speaker, getting onto our appropriations bills and engaging in a negotiation with the Senate to get the government funded, but instead these people got to go home and cry for a week,' he continued. 'We got to get a new Speaker and we've got to get leadership to understand a sense of urgency that your viewers and the American people all feel,' Gaetz added."
