New Dem Chair Joins CNN to Discuss Removal of Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker

This week, New Dem Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02) joined CNN News Central with John Berman to discuss the historic removal of Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker.

In the interview, Chair Kuster explained how the former Speaker’s dishonesty and unwillingness to work in a bipartisan way ultimately led to his removal, emphasizing that New Dems will continue to work across the aisle with reasonable Republicans. She expressed hope that the next Speaker would abandon far-right extremism and work with Democrats to get the job done on critical issues like funding the government, passing a Farm Bill, and supporting Ukraine.

In the interview, Vice Chair Schneider discussed how McCarthy has repeatedly caved to the most extreme Members of his party instead of working with Democrats to govern in a bipartisan fashion. Schneider called for bipartisan leadership to tackle the challenges facing America–– from growing our economy, tackling climate change, and addressing both immigration and border security.

New Dem Chair Kuster Statement on House Republican Leadership Crisis

As the GOP faces another crisis, Democrats are focused on delivering for the American people

On Tuesday, New Democrat Coalition (NDC) Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02) released a statement following the introduction of a motion to vacate Speaker Kevin McCarthy:

“You are only as good as your word — and time and again, Speaker McCarthy has proven that he is not a man of his word. He is simply not trustworthy.

“While Republicans have lost their way, Democrats stand united in our purpose and our Caucus. Leader Jeffries continues to be the steady, forward-looking voice we need to lead our country forward. New Dems are proud to stand with our Leader and our Caucus to deliver progress for the American people, not chaos.”

Jacoby's New Ukraine Project is devoted to helping Ukraine secure its independence and take its place in Europe as a fully free and democratic nation. The project is tracking Ukraine's progress as it strengthens civil society, tackles the corruption inherited from the Soviet era, rebuilds the economy and creates new constitutional safeguards and political institutions to protect individual rights and liberties.
