John, here’s why Matt and I did it.     John, First, let me introduce myself. My name is Tim Burchett. I’m a proud Tennessean born and raised, and I’m unafraid to admit that Matt and I were among the eight Republicans who voted to remove Kevin McCarthy from his position as House speaker. History is in the making for the first time in a long time at our nation’s capital because we finally said enough is enough. This was not a choice I took lightly. Kevin is not just a colleague; he’s a friend. But just like Harry S. Truman said many moons ago, “If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.” And guess what? I already have three furry companions — Charlie, Buzz, and Roscoe — waiting for me at home in Tennessee. I had to follow my gut on this one, John. I voted the way I did because our nation is drowning in debt that will cripple our grandkids and generations to come. We're talking about a whopping $33 trillion, and yet, we treated the entire month of August like an extended summer vacation. It's like we forgot that the fiscal year ends like clockwork every year. The result? A continuing resolution that kicks the can down the road for another 45 days. By that time, Thanksgiving will be right around the corner. With our backs up against the wall, this entire circus will end in an omnibus spending bill that keeps the gravy train running full steam ahead. This is exactly why I chose to stand with my friend, Matt Gaetz. I am through with the D.C. spending spree status quo, and I know you are too. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH I am reaching out to you today because you deserve to know the dadgum truth and have a government that works for you. Your support has gotten us to this point where the conservative movement is as strong as ever, and Kevin’s unprecedented ousting is the proof in the pudding. The real adventure is just beginning.
