keeping you up to date on all things Northeast Wisconsin The September NEWsflash Friend, Welcome back to the September edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of stories and happenings from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. From celebrating the openings of new businesses to honoring local heroes, September was filled with events that highlighted the best of our communities. I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance. Semper Fi, NEW Spaces: On September 25, I attended the ribbon cutting and grand opening event for Avergent LLC's new office space in Green Bay. Avergent LLC is a Green Bay-based employee benefit advisement firm. I extend my sincere congratulations to Drew and the entire Avergent team for the success they have had in helping employers improve healthcare benefits for their employees. Discover Green Bay: On September 13, members of my team attended the ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration for the Discover Green Bay Visitor Center. At this location, visitors can learn about the history and attractions that NEW has to offer. Congratulations to CEO Brad Toll and the entire Discover Green Bay team on your new location! Businesses of NEW: This month, I had the opportunity to visit the Reyes Coca-Cola Facility in Wrightstown. During my visit, I met with team members to discuss the day-to-day operations of the facility and how they distribute their products to businesses throughout NEW. Thank you to the entire Reyes Coca-Cola team for hosting me and for all you do for the community. Pulling for Honor: A member of my team had the opportunity to attend the Pulling for Honor event held at the Appleton Flight Center. Teams of 20 people competed to pull a FedEx Boeing 757 aircraft for 12 feet. The event raised $170,000 for the Old Glory Honor Flight, an organization that flies local veterans on mission to honor the military for their service. The next Old Glory Honor Flight will be held on October 18 at the Appleton International Airport. Caring Communities: My team attended a diaper need awareness event held at The Hub, Kimberly-Clark's Diaper Bank, at Valley Packaging Industries. Volunteers packaged nearly 10,000 diapers and discussed the growing need from families throughout NEW. United Way Fox Cities and Kimberly-Clark partner with 24 local agencies to distribute 1,200 diapers every month. Celebrating Recovery: On September 9, a member of my staff attended a Sober Green Bay event held at Bay Beach Amusement Park. The event was to celebrate those in recovery of alcohol and drug addiction. John Plageman and Tom Doughman (pictured above) co-founded Section Yellow in partnership with Lambeau Field - a booth that supports Packer fans seeking sobriety support during home games. NEW Addition to Gulfstream: Gulfstream Aerospace recently opened a new 73,000-square-foot paint hangar at its location in Appleton. The new hangar will allow the Gulfstream location to perform the entire aircraft process and will create nearly 200 new positions. The expansion will also have the ability to paint the exterior of 48 aircraft annually. Congratulations to the entire Gulfstream team! Honoring Fallen Heroes: Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 224 held their annual POW/MIA Recognition Day Candlelight Vigil on September 15, at the Brown County Courthouse. VVA members and their family and friends remembered servicemembers from Wisconsin who never returned home by reading their names aloud. Signing Day: On September 15, a member of my team attended the 2023 UA 400 Apprentice Signing Day at their location in Kaukauna. This year, 102 first-year apprentices were recognized who will begin their apprenticeships in HVAC Service, Plumbing, Steamfitting, and Pipe Fabrication.
