Friends,

I hope you and your family are well! I wanted to provide you with a few updates regarding what’s going on –

Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House

As we select a new Speaker, the House has the opportunity to change how we conduct the business of the American people. A proven conservative fighter like Congressman Jim Jordan can right the ship and return the House to a path toward conservative principles like promoting limited government, fighting reckless spending, and holding the Biden Administration accountable. As the Biden Administration infringes upon the states and citizens at every turn, we must fight to restore our nation back to the one envisioned by our Founding Fathers. The American people demand equal justice, not the two-tiered justice system we see today. We want spending under control, not backroom deals that benefit special interests and pass debt on to our children and grandchildren.

Jim Jordan is a fighter who will be relentless in cutting spending, draining the Swamp, and stopping the woke, reckless policies of the Biden Administration, in addition to holding the Biden Crime Family accountable. When the Revolutionary War Began at the Battles of Lexington and Concord, history tells us of the ‘shot heard round the world.’ Jim Jordan’s candidacy for Speaker carries the same weight as the shot that rang out that day in 1775. The legislative battle for America is upon us, and conservatives must rally around someone with a proven record of fighting for America. I’m proud to endorse my friend and fellow Freedom Caucus colleague, Congressman Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House of Representatives. Donald Trump and I stand together to support Jim Jordan for Speaker!

45-Day Continuing Resolution: Zero Spending Cuts

On Saturday, the House voted 331-91 to pass a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government for 45 days. I VOTED NO, just like I voted NO on the last omnibus spending bill, and NO on the CR before that, and NO on the CR before that. The bill passed this afternoon contains ZERO cuts to government spending and ZERO prohibitions against Biden Administration policies. The only positive about this legislation is that it does NOT contain the billions in Ukraine supplemental funding Biden requested. This CR is terrible, and I don't see why some of my colleagues think we will get better results 45 days from now than if we stood and fought TODAY. We MUST stop the spending and dangerous Biden Administration policies.

Instead of fighting for massive spending cuts and border security, the House rolled over and let the White House, Senate, and House Democrats win with this CR. Don’t let the corporate media convince you that the passing the CR was a good thing. I proudly stood with my fellow conservative colleagues like Rep. Chip Roy, Rep. Byron, Rep. Randy Weber, and Sen. Ted Cruz in opposing this CR that had ZERO spending cuts and ZERO checks on the policies of the Biden Administration.

My fellow Freedom Caucus colleagues and I fought back against the fiscal insanity from the White House, the Senate, and House Minority. America cannot continue spending beyond its means. Americans deserve a clear-cut path to funding the government, defeating the Schumer-McConnell Continuing Resolution, making massive cuts to spending, and securing our southern border. At every opportunity, I am working to cut federal spending and rein in the abusive policies of the Biden Administration.

Impeachment Inquiry Into Joe Biden

As House Republicans continue the impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, we have seen the release of evidence proving the influence peddling abroad, heard the testimony of whistleblowers about misconduct in the investigation of the Bidens, observed the weaponization of government against Biden’s political opponents, and the list keeps going. Since the news media will not give you the facts about the Biden Crime Family, here’s the play-by-play of Joe Biden’s Road to Impeachment.

Trump Derangement Syndrome

Anyone who has ever been involved in the real estate market (as I have been) knows that tax assessments generally undervalue real property. Apparently, Judge Engoron doesn’t understand that very simple historic fact. That’s why real estate experts are laughing at his absurd ruling against President Donald Trump. Trump is being tried in New York for allegations of fraud by claiming the value of his assets was higher than what the market predicted to get better rates on loans or for insurance. Let’s look at the supposed “smoking gun” from the left. Judge Engoron claims Mar-a-Lago is only worth about $18 million, while real estate pros estimate the real value is at a minimum of $300 million. Clearly, it’s time to move on, drop the Trump derangement syndrome, and stop weaponizing the government against Donald J Trump.

Religious Liberty Protected

On Monday, a great win for religious liberty came out of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. Since 2017, faith-based foster services have been targeted due to their religious beliefs. The Court ruled in favor of South Carolina and affirmed that providers like Miracle Hill can continue to provide exceptional services to the children and families who depend on them for loving homes and care. I’ve been fighting tirelessly since 2017 to protect the right of faith-based services to be able to operate in South Carolina without having their religious liberty stifled by the government. With countless in the Upstate dependent on the amazing work of organizations like Miracle Hill, these rulings protect their Constitutional freedoms and ensure quality care for South Carolinians in need.

Standing Up for the Romeike Family

Thirteen years back, the Romeike family was facing persecution in Germany for simply wanting to homeschool their children so they could shield them from the attacks on their values in public schools. The Remeikes obtained “indefinitely deferred action status” in the US in 2013 which allowed them to live in America and have a job to put food on the table. The Biden Administration is now telling Uwe Romeike to report for deportation on October 11. On October 3, I joined 32 of my colleagues to implore Joe Biden to do the right thing and not deport a hardworking family and force them back into religious persecution in Germany.  The Romeike’s young children were born in America and are American citizens. You cannot allow these Americans to be deported and placed into a country where they will be forcibly removed from their home and from their parents. Mr. President, please grant asylum to the Romeikes and keep this family protected.

We see scores of illegal immigrants exploiting the asylum process everyday while the Biden Administration turns a blind eye. But when there is a legitimate case of religious persecution of a family with children who are American citizens, the Biden Administration says deport them.

Protecting Children's Innocence

I’m proud to be the only member of South Carolina Congressional delegation to stand with the SC Freedom Caucus and other coalition leaders on August 11 to demand that SC end its association with the American Library Association. This radical group targets your children with drag queen story hours, woke ideology, and Critical Race Theory. Because we took a stand, the South Carolina State Library has announced they are leaving the American Library Association.

National Energy Appreciation Day

When we flip a switch, we expect the lights to come on. That's due to the work of 7.8 million US workers who power America. I'm proud to introduce National Energy Appreciation Day (NEAD) to recognize the importance of our domestic energy industry to modern life and celebrate the men and women who make it all work. NEAD will be celebrated on the first Wednesday of October.

In the District

Laurens County School District 55 was awarded a $13.5 million grant which will fund the Laurens Educators Achieving Results to Net Success (LEARNS) Project and the Teacher and Student Advancement (TAP) System. I was honored to support Dr. Thomas and the school district in their pursuit of the grant which is designed to enhance effectiveness in the classroom by creating a ‘performance-based compensation system’ that prioritizes student success. I look forward to seeing this grant lead to great success for these students and teachers.

Oconee County Sheriff's Office will be celebrating the Faith & Blue Weekend on October 5–9 to build a bridge between their office and the community. They will host a unity walk in Seneca beginning at 8:30am on Saturday October 7 at the Shaver Recreation Complex. I'm proud to back the Blue and hope you will be able to support these Officers this weekend.

This week, students at Douglas Elementary School in Edgefield County received a special visit from the USC Aiken women's basketball team for the Books and Basketball program. Whether on or off the court, these women are encouraging young students to excel academically, to be a team player, and to be active.

It is an honor to serve the Third District of South Carolina. Should you or your family need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact my office directly.

Blessings and Liberty,
