As the granddaughter of a public school teacher who taught me the importance of serving others and the value of a good education, I was proud to honor my grandma and the incredible teachers in IL-13 and across the country yesterday for World Teachers’ Day!

Teachers are the backbone of our communities. They help our children grow and learn and leave a lasting impact on our lives. We must take a moment to celebrate our teachers and acknowledge the work ahead to improve teacher pay and invest in our public education system.

That’s why I’m doing everything I can to address our teacher retention crisis by working across the aisle to pass legislation ensuring children across our nation have equal access to high-quality public education at safe and supportive schools, with teachers and administrators who have the resources they need to succeed.
