Legislative Update

Local Biz
News from District 23B

This week I met with job creators from across our district to discuss the issues facing local business owners after several major new laws passed last session. The implications of these new laws, from increased taxes and fees, huge new one-size-fits-all mandates, and problems with staffing, are major burdens on local businesses, especially small businesses.

We had a great conversation about the problems they are facing as they try and change their businesses to comply with these new laws, the ways that impacts their abilities to serve customers and provide well-paying jobs for their employees, and their ideas on how to address those problems as we move forward. Next session, I look forward to working with local job creators to come up with solutions to these problems so we can create a business environment that works for everyone.

Disabled American Veterans Pheasant Hunt


DAV Pheasant Hunt

I enjoyed walking with several veterans from around the area for the annual DAV Pheasant Hunt. Though it was a bit chilly, the dogs were focused and lead us to many birds. We came back with eight beautiful pheasants. It was a wonderful time on the Three Arrows Hunting Preserve.

Local Events

Coming up this weekend, we have several great events in our community that I hope to see everyone at!


* Austin, Grand Meadow, and Blooming Prairie all have their *Homecoming football games* tonight! Go out and support your local teams!
* *Shoot for a Cure* on October 7 (Saturday) at Three Arrows Hunting Preserve
* Angry Hog is hosting their *3rd Annual Hogtober Fest* from 1-10pm on Saturday
* *Austin Pride Festival*
* Westminster Presbyterian church has their *annual rummage sale* both Friday and Saturday
* *Bruins take on the St. Cloud Norsemen* on Saturday night at Riverside Arena
* Orpington Farm is hosting their *Fall Market* on Sunday, October 8 from 10-3 at their farm in Dexter, MN
