Today is Manufacturing Day and German-American Day. Sunday begins Earth Science Week and Fire Prevention Week. Monday is Leif Erikson Day. September 15 to October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. In October we observe Energy Awareness Month, Disability Employment Awareness Month, Diversity Awareness Month, Italian American Heritage Month, Polish-American Heritage Month, and Seafood Month.

National Manufacturing Day: October 6

National Manufacturing Week: October 6-13?

The U.S. Census Bureau joins a group of public and private organizations in celebrating the importance of the manufacturing sector of the nation?s economy.

German-American Day: October 6

The American Community Survey estimates about 41.1M (roughly 12.3%) of the nation?s 333.3M people in 2022 reported German ancestry.

Earth Science Week: October 8-14

The 2022 American Community Survey estimated about 11.8M civilians aged 16 and over were employed in computer, engineering, and science occupations.

Fire Prevention Week: October 8-14

The 2022 American Community Survey estimates there were about 404,000 civilians employed full-time as firefighters, fire inspectors, and supervisors in the U.S.

Leif Erikson Day (Nordic-American heritage): October 9?

The 2022 American Community Survey estimated 10M people in the U.S. reported Nordic ancestry (Danish, Finnish, Icelander, Norwegian, Scandinavian Swedish).

Global Diversity Awareness Month: October

Diversity is all the ways in which we differ: race, ethnicity, gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, parental status, educational background, etc.

Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month: October

The ?American Community Survey estimated 16 million people or 4.8% of the total 333.3 million U.S. population in 2022 reported Italian ancestry.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month: October

The? American Community Survey estimated that 9.8M noninstitutionalized civilians with a disability in the U.S. were employed and 1.0M were unemployed in 2022. ?

National Energy Awareness Month: October

There were 3,856 U.S. electric power generation stations with 124,532 paid employees and an annual payroll of $15.9B in 2021, according to the County Business Patterns report.

National Seafood Month: October

The County Business Patterns counted 10,894 establishments, $4.94B annual payroll, and 94,456 employees in U.S. fishing, seafood and marina industries in 2021.

Polish-American Heritage Month: October

The 2022 American Community Survey estimated the U.S. population at 331.9M. About 8.2M (roughly 2.5%) reported Polish ancestry.
