Oklahoma,

Congress has 42 days to fund the government. However, this week Democrat Majority Leader Chuck Schumer only called the Senate into session for less than two days. It is my firm belief that we must remain in Washington until all 12 appropriations bills have been debated and passed by the Senate. No more recess, let's finish the job.

In the meantime, check out what we were able to accomplish while in Washington this week. If this email was forwarded to you, you may subscribe to my e-newsletter here.

Thank you to Oklahoma's Nature Conservancy State Director, Mike Fuhr and his colleagues for taking their time to meet with me this week. The Nature Conservancy is proud to partner with landowners, farmers, and ranchers across Oklahoma to preserve our natural resources, and it was great to discuss issues important to their partners like the reauthorization of the Farm Bill.

I'm excited to announce Oklahoma Public School Resource Center has been selected to receive $55 million in grant funding over the next five years through the U.S. Department of Education’s Charter School Program Grant to allow the continued growth of quality charter schools in the state.

Offering high-quality education options for the next generation is the most significant action we can take for the future of our state. As the father of six wonderful children, I know firsthand the importance of ensuring our educators have the tools they need to best meet our children’s individualized needs. I’m confident Oklahoma Public School Resource Center will use this grant to support new and expanding institutions to meet the unique needs of Oklahoma students and their families.
