Breaking! A new vaccine to fight malaria has just been recommended for use by the World Health Organization.

With nearly half of the world’s population at risk of malaria, this is a huge win in the fight against this deadly disease and has the potential to save millions of lives.

There is no time to waste: over 1,000 children under 5 die from malaria every day. We need the US to fully fund programs to make this new vaccine accessible and affordable for the people who need it most. In 2021, 619,000 people died from malaria. Climate change is fueling the spread of the disease in the most vulnerable countries in the world.

More than ever, we need investment in global programs and partnerships with a track record of successfully rolling out new vaccines and treatments. But the reality is that many of them are facing funding shortfalls.

As only the second vaccine recommended for use in the fight against malaria, the new vaccine is making headlines.
