John, yesterday, I reached out to talk about the historic removal of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House. If you missed that email, I've attached it to the bottom of this one. 

I wanted to reach out again to let you know how Congress plans to move forward – i.e plans to elect a new Speaker of the House – and how that'll affect my campaign moving forward. 

Just like before, other members of the House and I will vote on who we think is the best candidate for the speakership. Here's the issue: 

The same people vying for the position – those championing far-right special interests – are the same folks who would support my opponent in my next election. 

John, my last election against a Republican opponent was already too close for comfort. We can't afford to fall short against my next opponent and the special interest groups who are choosing to fund their efforts. 

My top priority is working in the best interests of my constituents. That means fighting for abortion access, crucial benefits for our seniors, and protecting our democracy from MAGA Republicans. 

My team and I need your help to tell folks about my past, the work I'm doing now, and my continued passion for calling out wrongdoing. Will you become a grassroots champion and donate any amount toward my next campaign?

John, after the chaos of voting and historic firsts, I wanted to reach out with some much-needed positive news: 

With the support of folks like you, my team and I were able to not only reach our End of Quarter Fundraising Goal, but exceed it!

Whether you've been standing alongside me since day one, or just found out who I was last month, I sincerely want to thank you for the time and energy you've invested in my team and I.

But in the face of what happened this week, I want to send a clear message to MAGA Republicans about where their priorities should be. Will you sign this petition my team and I created, calling on Republicans to finally give up the games and focus on our constituents?

My, my, my, John, let's talk about what happened this week: 

Members of the House, including myself, voted to remove Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House – making him the first in congressional history to involuntarily vacate the position. 

I wish I could say this came as a complete shock, but since the first day of this Congress, I have seen Kevin McCarthy cater to the will of MAGA Republicans. 

FIRST: To even secure the votes needed to become Speaker, he had to make unrealistic promises, and push for bills that would attack crucial benefits for seniors, criminalize abortion, and take crucial childcare away from families. 

THEN: He betrayed the debt limit deal he agreed to with President Biden almost immediately. 

NEXT: He undermined a bipartisan investigation into the January 6 attack on our democracy. 

NOW: After narrowly avoiding a government shutdown, he is committed to wasting Congress' time – and the American people's time – with a baseless and partisan impeachment inquiry, all to please the former president.

John, I didn't take my vote lightly. But in my commitment to putting people over politics, building a healthy economy, and combating the rising cost of living, I believe it was the best choice to make.

But we're not out of the woods yet. Moving forward, my team and I want a strong show of public support to remind MAGA Republicans that our people should be our top priority, not these ridiculous shows of partisanship. John, I'm asking for your help – will you add your name to the list of people advocating for people-first politics?
