I took a stand on the House floor to safeguard the tax dollars of hardworking Americans – and I won. Recently, the House passed H.R. 4665, the Fiscal Year 2024, State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations (SFOPS) package. Included within this package is my amendment to prevent State Department employees from traveling to, or attending, events hosted by the Clinton Global Initiative. Allow me to explain why my amendment is so important.
The rationale is quite simple: the Clinton Global Initiative has engaged in blatant corruption and influence peddling that would make even Hunter Biden blush. In perhaps its most nefarious episode, in 2014, Hillary Clinton approached the Moroccan government about hosting a Clinton Global Initiative conference in Morocco. The Moroccans fronted the money for the event by funneling it through a state-owned-enterprise that was extracting and exploiting phosphates from a non-self-governing territory: Western Sahara. This sleight-of-hand amounted to condoning Morocco’s sovereignty over this disputed land. This deal was so rotten that even the Huffington Post deemed Fox News’ investigation into this matter a “Brutal, Clean Hit on Hillary Clinton’s Campaign”.
This was a cash for sovereignty deal formulated just as former Secretary of State Clinton began her run for president of the free world. Indeed, the Clinton Global Initiative’s scandals are myriad, and include an episode uncovered by the New York Times revealing undisclosed donations linked to the sale of US uranium production to a Russian government agency. Shortly after Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign ended, the Clinton Global Initiative was shuttered. That is, until late last year, when the organization reconstituted itself. Its operations are no longer taking place in the dark, and this is the first State and Foreign Operations appropriations bill considered since its resurrection.
Given the State Department’s enmeshment with the Clintons and the Initiative, the need for my amendment is as clear as day. Americans simply cannot afford more radical policies purveyed by an organization that allows the global elite to buy and influence American foreign policy.
My Latest Interview
In case you missed it, I joined NewsNation’s The Hill to discuss the House Committee on Education and the Workforce’s newly released report that shows 63 percent of students believe the political and social climate on their campus prevents free speech and expression, and as many as 20 percent of students admit to self-censoring because of this atmosphere. Our country is built on the principles of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom to assemble. Those freedoms are being stymied on college campuses all across the country and we will not tolerate that.

Combating DEI Mandates
On Tuesday, I took to the House floor to discuss the Committee on Education and the Workforce’s efforts to rid medical schools of harmful so-called “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) mandates. Medical education based on competency and merit is necessary to lead the world in health care and medical innovation. Medical schools must instill this fundamental precept in our country’s future health care professionals. The Committee will continue to push for merit-based education standards for all professions in the American workforce.
