“For Supreme Court, ethics have become the elephant in the courtroom” - The Washington Post

John,

The Supreme Court began a new term this week—without a code of conduct in place.

We have seen allegations of serious ethical violations come to light over the last year time and time again.

Whether it is questionable financial disclosures from right-wing mega-donors or refusals to acknowledge conflicts of interest, the Supreme Court has shown us that a code of conduct is long overdue.

If the Supreme Court won’t act, then Congress will. Democrats are leading the push for ethics reform legislation, but I need your help. Will you add your name to my petition now calling for a Supreme Court code of conduct?

Polls show that the Supreme Court’s public approval has taken a significant dive in recent years. People must be able to trust the Supreme Court’s decision-making process if we want to protect our democracy.

I have repeatedly called for greater transparency, a code of conduct, and a recusal standard, but Republicans continue to stand in the way of moving Supreme Court ethics legislation along.

This period could come to define the Supreme Court. Add your name now to support legislation for a Supreme Court code of conduct.

Your voice is essential in shaping and protecting our democracy.

My best,

Dick Durbin
