Hi,

When Louis DeJoy announced his plan to weaken the U.S. Postal Service by
closing post offices, cutting staff, and slashing overtime, postal workers
warned that it would slow down mail delivery and put postal workers at
risk.^1

Now we’ve seen the tragic consequences. On June 20, one of the hottest
days of the year, a postal worker died on his route as the heat index hit
113 degrees.^2

Less than a month before he died — as Louis DeJoy was pressuring postal
workers to do more with less — this same postal worker received the first
disciplinary letter of his career for not working fast enough.^3

This is inhuman. It should be a scandal. And for Louis DeJoy, it should be
the last straw.

DeJoy is imposing grueling, unsafe conditions on workers. Already, he’s
slashed hours for rural carriers and forced them to travel farther to pick
up the mail.^4,5 Some are reporting pay cuts of 25%.^6

It’s not just workers who are suffering. Immediately after DeJoy took
over, on-time delivery times plummeted from over 92 percent to 61
percent.^7

It’s all because Trump-appointed DeJoy, a former logistics company CEO who
has donated over $1 million to Republicans since 2016, isn’t focused on
providing a public service.^8 He wants to run the post office like a
profit-seeking business.

These are horrifying, Amazon-style working conditions imposed by
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy in the name of “efficiency.” And they’re
going to get worse as DeJoy plows ahead with his 10-year plan to remake
the post office in the image of private monopolies.

We’ve generated around 250,000 petition signatures calling for Louis DeJoy
to be fired. With workers increasingly speaking out, now is the time to
turn up the heat.
