In just a minute, I'm going to ask you to add your name to personally endorse my re-election campaign for Congress. But before I do, please give me a chance to explain why your voice is so important to this movement.

Now, one thing you may know about my story is that I am a refugee.

When I was just a young child, my family was forced to escape civil war in Somalia, and we had to take sanctuary for four years in a Kenyan refugee camp.

We didn't always have food or running water. But we did always hold out hope that one day, we would be able to get out of that camp and start a new life in the United States.

At the time, I never could have even imagined I would someday run for office — nevermind become the first African-born member of Congress, or that tens of thousands of people across the country would be with me along the way.

I wouldn't have believed you if you told me. No way.

Each and every thing that our campaigns and our work in Congress has accomplished has only ever been possible because of people like you, Denise, and I want you to know that I am incredibly grateful to have your trust and support.

Every day I count my blessings — but the fact is, we still have a lot of work to do. The political insiders and special interests who never wanted a progressive, Somali, refugee, Muslim, Hijabi-wearing woman in Congress are going to come back with more money and resources than ever before to try to take me down in 2024.

If our movement is going to continue building progressive power and fighting for the values and issues we believe in like Medicare for All, climate action, and canceling student debt, it's going to take every single one of us standing together in solidarity.

That's why I'm asking:
