Madeleine has had a busy few weeks in Washington and here in Pennsylvania. From House Republicans coming after President Biden with an unfounded impeachment inquiry, to a near-shutdown of the government thanks to Kevin McCarthy’s inability to unite his party that led to his historic ousting earlier this week, the work hasn’t slowed for a moment — and we don’t want you to miss these important updates from her!

Check out the latest below:

As a manager in the second impeachment of Donald Trump, Mad knows the serious implications of these inquiries. Not surprisingly, her colleagues across the aisle have put forth an inquiry that underscores that their loyalty is with Donald Trump, not our democracy. Madeleine joined fellow Pennsylvania delegation member, Senator John Fetterman, to introduce bicameral legislation to defer student loan payments for survivors of sexual violence. Here’s what Mad had to say about this important legislation to the Pennsylvania Capital-Star :“After going through horrific trauma like harassment, stalking, or assault, survivors deserve the time to heal — and if they’re in school and need to step away from their education to do that, they must be able to do so without the worry or financial burden of student loan repayments beginning. This deferment will help survivors focus on what’s most important: their mental and physical well-being. ”

September was also National Recovery Month, and Mad and her son Harry had the chance to speak with PA Secretary of Drug & Alcohol Programs Dr. Latika Davis-Jones about substance use disorder, recovery, and hope. You can read more from the Pennsylvania Capital-Star here.

Bret Baird’s Fox News Podcast Common Ground revisited Madeleine’s conversation with her Republican colleague, Rep. Darrell Issa, where they discussed preventing drug and opioid overdose and addiction. Initially broadcast in March of last year, the issues remain largely the same, and it’s important to remember where we have common ground on the issues that impact Americans the most, especially when we’re seeing an epidemic like this one that’s taking the lives of our nation’s children. You can check out their conversation here.
