14 states and one territory are voting tomorrow, and front-runner Bernie Sanders could extend his delegate lead at this critical juncture. As of Friday, Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight gave him an almost one-in-three chance of securing a majority of delegates before the convention.
Many moderates fear that Bernie Sanders won’t be able to defeat Trump in November, believing his perceived leftist policies will alienate more moderate Democrats and independents. They fear he will push voters to pick Trump instead or depress turnout and hurt vulnerable down-ballot Democrats.
According to James Carville, “The risk in losing the election [if Bernie is the nominee] is deep and profound.”
Sanders leads Trump in several national polls, but a new Quinnipiac poll shows Sanders beating Trump in Pennsylvania and Michigan -- both key swing states -- but losing to Trump in Wisconsin.
