Representatives from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) and the Office of Higher Education (OHE) visited Ultra Machining Company in Monticello, Minnesota, Oct. 4 to discuss the company's use of Dual-Training Pipeline [ [link removed] ] and Youth Skills Training [ [link removed] ] programs as workforce tools to help the company address critical workforce challenges?in the manufacturing industry.

Women's Economic Security Act grants awarded
Five organizations were awarded grants to promote understanding of Minnesota laws relating to pregnant and new parents' workplace rights to pregnancy accommodations and pregnancy and parental leave through the Women's Economic Security Act (WESA). View the recipients [ [link removed] ].

Earned sick and safe time grants awarded
Seven organizations will be awarded grants as part of Minnesota's new earned sick and safe time law, which goes into effect Jan. 1 and requires employers to provide paid leave to employees who work in the state. The grants will be used to promote education, outreach, communication, engagement and training to build worker and employer understanding about Minnesota laws relating to earned sick and safe time. MNOSHA fatality, serious-injury investigation summaries online
Each month, Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA) Compliance publishes current, updated summaries of its fatality investigations and serious-injury investigations.
For the federal-fiscal-year that began Oct. 1, 2022, MNOSHA has investigated 24 fatalities through Sept. 29.
The information provided about each investigation is:? the inspection number, date of incident and worksite city; the type of business and number of employees; a description of the event; and the outcome of the MNOSHA Compliance investigation.
