More than five years of investigative work paid off in September when Asian illegal wildlife trade kingpin Teo Boon Ching was jailed for 18 months by a New York court. The full scope of his criminal activities was exposed in 2018 by EIA UK, which supplied a substantial amount of intelligence on his modus operandi and activities to US enforcement agents. He was arrested following a covert sting operation in which he conspired to traffic at least 219kg of rhinoceros horns worth more than $2.1m.
