Memphis - we did it!

I’m filled with extreme gratitude to announce I've been elected as the next Mayor of Memphis. 

I never got into this race to be a politician, I got into this race because I believe in the future of our great city - and I believe in the next generation. And now, thanks to voters like you who have supported me every step of the way, we can get to work moving Memphis forward. 

Today, Memphis finds itself at a pivotal moment. In a city where too many mothers have had to bury their children, and where entire neighborhoods live under the weight of crime, public safety must be our top priority. My administration will prioritize public safety by investing in our police officers, expanding mental health services, and engaging our youth in positive activities through expanded community centers and after-school programs. 

Additionally, my administration will be dedicated to harnessing the untapped potential of Memphis. We will focus on economic growth that includes everyone, revitalizing our neighborhoods, and restoring the public's trust in local government. We will invest in the future of our children. We'll partner with schools, businesses, and community organizations to ensure every child in Memphis has the opportunity for a good education and a bright future.

But I’m not going to be able to accomplish this alone. In fact, I need supporters like you now more than ever to help hold me accountable and make me a better Mayor and leader for this family.

So with that, let me once again express my gratitude to the voters of Memphis for entrusting me with this awesome responsibility. Dr. King spoke about "the fierce urgency of now," and that urgency has never been more pertinent - I am eager to take on this new challenge. I’d also like to thank my staff and volunteers for their hours of hard work making tonight a reality.

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to thank my wife for her unending support. Without my wife’s continuous encouragement, I’m positive this campaign would not have been successful. I am so blessed and grateful to have her support in my life and in this campaign.
