I'll be honest with you, John, it won’t be easy. This race will be expensive. It could easily be one of the most expensive races this state has ever seen, and California is not a cheap place to run a campaign!

Our rigged system does no favors for Black women, let alone Black female candidates. It favors the already rich and privileged, and makes them even more so. Black female candidates on average raise just one-third the money their white female counterparts raise. That’s nothing compared to the same ratio against men.

We MUST level the playing field to make sure we have the resources necessary to win. I told the congresswoman I would raise $20,000 before midnight tonight. I'm counting on you to help me hit this goal.

Throughout her time in office, Barbara Lee has fought tirelessly for issues that matter to us – from being the only Member of Congress to vote against the endless wars following 9/11, to leading the charge on behalf of the Green New Deal and Medicare for All. She always does what’s right, even if she's the ONLY ONE doing it.
