Dear John,

Each week for the next 15 weeks leading up to our anniversary, we are sharing the top organizational accomplishments we achieved over the last 15 years. Check out and 👍 our “NVAHA 15” series, spread the ♥ and celebrate with us as we renew our collective commitment to partnerships, regionalism and increased housing opportunities for all.

NVAHA 15 - Accomplishment #2 (2005 - 2010): NVAHA was appointed by Fairfax County Supervisor Cathy Hudgins to serve on the Tysons Land Use Task Force, a 36-member group representing a diversity of community interests and perspectives. The goal of the Task Force was to create a vision for the redevelopment of the 1,700-acre Tysons footprint, resulting in a transit-oriented destination, with a mix of uses and a balance of housing and jobs.

NVAHA has selected to chair the Affordable Housing Subcommittee of the Task Force, and successfully advocated for the adoption of a set of policies that required 20% of all residential development to serve affordable and workforce housing incomes. Learn more.
