All the work that we’ve done together is on the line. We’ve reached a key time in our fight for the Equal Rights Amendment and gender equality. We know we can rely on you in the challenging year ahead.
Since the U.S. Supreme Court gave states the power to restrict access to abortion, 25 states have banned or dramatically reduced access to abortions. And the attacks on women’s rights are still escalating!
State legislative elections will be critical this election cycle. In fact, the most important election right now is the November election for the state legislature in Virginia. If the Virginia General Assembly turns red, the ratification of the ERA and abortion rights would be at risk.
It’s imperative that women’s rights and lives are at the forefront of this campaign. We have overwhelming public support for both the ERA and abortion rights access. People must know that their rights are in danger in this upcoming election.
Don’t think you’re safe if you live in a “blue” state. The same forces of extremism are spending millions and millions in dark money to maintain control of the House, and to win the Senate, and the White House in the 2024 election. If they win, you can look forward to a set of anti-abortion, anti-social justice laws that will be imposed nationwide.
Remember: Laws can be changed by politicians, but a Constitutional Amendment is virtually permanent. We must be stronger than ever in this struggle, because this time, human rights, civil rights, gender equality, and democracy are all on the line.
