Just a few weeks ago, we traveled to the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) Headquarters in Nashville to continue our Freedom to Thrive portrait series — and it was incredible.

During our time there, we had the privilege of listening to the profoundly personal and heartfelt stories of the Nashville immigrant community. Each person we spoke with shared their unique journey, hopes, and dreams.

One of the questions we asked participants was, “What does the Freedom to Thrive mean to you?” Here are a few of their responses:

“To me, thriving means being able to uplift my people's story...”

“To thrive means to have an education, a right to health care.”

“The ability to live boldly, unapologetically, and express yourself.”
