Supporter, For the past fifty years, the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) – an operation that brings together corporate lobbyists and legislators behind closed doors – has repeatedly been the culprit behind policies that are detrimental to democracy and our fundamental rights. ALEC and the corporate sponsors who fund them have been responsible for a host of right-wing extremist legislation in recent years, such as creating Stand Your Ground gun laws, pushing restrictive voter ID laws, rolling back environmental protections, crushing unions, blacklisting companies with sustainable and inclusive business practices, criminalizing protest, and gutting access to reproductive healthcare. Through their network of lawmakers and lobbyists, ALEC will share “model legislation” that would advance their extreme policies and lawmakers will often introduce the bill word-for-word to advance their right-wing agenda. ALEC is bankrolled by some of the nation’s largest corporations, and we need YOU to put pressure on them to drop their support of ALEC and end their assault on our rights. Thanks to the advocacy of people like you, more than 100 major corporations have already dumped ALEC – including Google, Coca-Cola, and AT&T – but many more keep funding its harmful operations, even when that conflicts with the values the corporations publicly claim to support. Your voice makes a difference and our work doesn’t stop until all corporate sponsors stop funding ALEC. Thanks for all you do, Rio Tazewell
