Immigration Restrictions Are Affirmative Action for Natives - The recent Supreme Court case that struck down affirmative action in university admissions sparked a broader social debate over meritocracy. Those opposed to affirmative action say they support meritocracy. The debate over affirmative action and meritocracy applies to immigration policy in two ways: legal immigration restrictions are the most destructive form of affirmative action, and immigrants and their descendants have been essential in reducing the scope of affirmative action in the United States over the last 30 years.

Roy, Vance, and Gaetz Caution Biden’s Pentagon from Escalating War in Ukraine - Representatives Chip Roy and Matt Gaetz, along with Senator JD Vance, cautioned Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin from sending U.S. military advisers to Ukraine. The legislators wrote, "A military adviser mission to Ukraine would run a significant escalatory risk with Russia. It would mean placing additional ‘boots on the ground’...it would be one more step towards a dangerous, unnecessary war between the United States and Russia." Their letter follows the U.S. sending more advanced weaponry to Ukraine, reports of offensive stalls, and the beginning of calls for military adviser deployments by influential U.S. publications.

Cruz, Cornyn Introduce Range of Measures to Boost Texas Water Supply and Secure Compliance By Mexico of Water Treaty - US Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn introduced several legislative measures to ensure that U.S. diplomats and officials of the U.S. Section of the International Boundary Commission have the backing and necessary resources to establish predictable and reliable water supplies, which are especially crucial to Texas farmers, including compliance by Mexico with the 1944 Treaty on Utilization of Waters of the Colorado, Tijuana, and Rio Grande Rivers.
