CF Foundation Invests Up to $9M in Additional Funds to Develop a Messenger RNA Therapy


We are investing up to $9 million in additional funds in Arcturus Therapeutics to test an inhaled messenger RNA therapy ([link removed])
that could treat the underlying cause of cystic fibrosis in all people living with the disease, including those with nonsense and rare mutations. If successful, the genetic-based therapy would provide the correct template to lung cells to produce a functional CFTR protein, helping to relieve symptoms of CF in the lungs.

CF Foundation Awards Advance Improvements in CF Newborn Screening

As part of our work to address discrepancies in newborn screening,
we award the Screening Improvement Program Award for Optimizing the Diagnosis of Infants (SIP award) to researchers to improve the newborn screening system ([link removed]). Since 2011, we have funded more than $2.5 million across 35 awards and have seen many enhancements in various states.
