Speaker of the House Update
|
Kevin McCarthy is a dedicated leader and I am beyond grateful for his service as Speaker of the House and for spearheading efforts to get conservative priorities across the finish line.
Moving forward, I will be closely monitoring and weighing options for who I will support as the next Speaker so Congress can get back to the job we were sent here to do.

We must continue working on government funding to rein in reckless spending and put the priorities of hard-working Americans first.

Renaming the Mount Vernon Post Office
|
Earlier this week, legislation I sponsored to rename the United States Post Office in Mount Vernon, Georgia, after Second Lieutenant Patrick Palmer Calhoun passed the House.
Second Lieutenant Calhoun was an American patriot, Vietnam veteran, and amazing man who couldn’t be more deserving of having his name displayed on the U.S. Post Office in Mount Vernon. Calhoun served as a Rotary Wing Aviation Unit Commander in South Vietnam where his helicopter was tragically shot down under hostile fire while dropping off troops in the Spring of 1965.

Since President Biden took office, there have been over 6 MILLION illegal crossings of our southern border. In August alone, there were nearly 233,000 illegal immigrants encountered at the southern border—a 27% increase from July.
This Administration's open-border policies are undoubtedly to blame. House Republicans passed legislation that would end the Biden border crisis. The Secure the Border Act of 2023 is the strongest border security bill in history. It's past time for the Senate to pass H.R. 2 and send it to President Biden's desk.

A Decade of Business Excellence
|
For the 10th consecutive year, Georgia has been named the #1 state in the nation to do business by Area Development magazine!
I'm thankful for Governor Brian Kemp's leadership in fostering a pro-growth environment where Georgia businesses and job creators can thrive. Our state continues to be a model for the rest of the country to follow!

One of the best ways for me to serve you in Congress is by hearing your thoughts and concerns. Throughout the year, I host live Telephone Town Hall meetings to connect with constituents throughout the 12th District.
These meetings are similar to a traditional town hall meeting but are conducted by phone, where you can dial in from the comfort of your own home. The meetings typically last around one hour, with time for you to ask questions, hear live answers, and participate in a number of poll questions that will aid my decision-making in Washington.
