📝 NOTE FROM THE CHAIR 📝

Friends,

This week I had the pleasure of joining the Iowa Democratic Party’s Women’s Caucus in Coon Rapids for their “Campaign 101: Join a Team. Make a Difference” event. The workshop was designed to give women who are thinking of running for office, serving on local or county boards, or helping with a campaign a place to start. It was great to meet so many women who are thinking about running for office as well as those who are willing to roll up their sleeves to help them.  It was a beautiful morning in a beautiful space at the Whiterock Conservancy. If you haven’t been there, it is a 5,500 acre non-profit land trust that balances sustainable agriculture, conservation and public recreation. What an Iowa treasure!

I was also glad to see so many fired up Democrats when I attended the Polk County Steak Fry this weekend along with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Vice Chair of the DNC Ken Martin.

The next day I spent a couple of hours with the Allamakee County Democrats in Waukon at their Pie and Politics event before heading to Decorah to attend the Winneshiek Fall Frolic. Such positive Democratic efforts are being made by our local county leadership! We heard from several exciting local candidates along with State Representatives Sharon Steckman and J.D. Scholten.

I always enjoy meeting with Iowans when I’m at these events and hearing about the issues that matter most to them. This week, I’ll be attending several more fall festivals and fundraisers across the state, and I hope to see you there.  Let me know when you’d like me to come to your neck of the woods!

Yours,
Rita Hart
