As I waited to testify, the atmosphere in the hearing room was tense. I could feel the senate and house members watch me as I walked to the table to give my testimonial. I took my seat and began my researched and thorough testimony against HB 377 and SB 174 in Boston, Massachusetts. These bills would unduly target pro-life pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) by allowing the state to penalize them for alleged “deceptive” statements about their services. This would result in PRCs having to pay thousands of dollars in fines.
Despite the atmosphere, I knew we were on the winning side, the side of life. Testimony after testimony reiterated how unjust these two proposed laws were. I was proud to be there on behalf of Americans United for Life, proud to be there in defense of PRCs that would otherwise close if these bills were to pass. |
