The Listening Tour has marked a significant milestone in our journey as Representatives for the people of Hawai'i, building a more engaged and informed community. Over the past month, we have traveled across the island of Oahu to neighborhoods within and outside of our districts, engaging with residents from all walks of life to hear their concerns and ideas. This comprehensive effort has allowed us to gain invaluable insights into the unique challenges and opportunities our communities face. The Listening Tour is just the beginning for us, as it signals our commitment to turning these conversations into meaningful action as we prepare legislation for 2024. With the input we've gathered, we are now better equipped to craft legislation that reflect the voices and needs of our communities, ensuring a brighter and more prosperous future for all.
Below are a few snapshots from the Westside Listening Tour at Honouliuli Middle School on September 28th:

Inspire Church groundbreaking ceremony

In a moment of community celebration, Representative Diamond Garcia joined Pastor Mike & Lisa Kai of Inspire Church at the groundbreaking ceremony for their new Kapolei Church Location. On behalf of the Hawaii State Legislature, Rep. Garcia presented a certificate of recognition, commemorating this significant event. This gesture not only showcased the spirit of support from our local government but also highlighted the strong bond between the church and the community. The ceremony marked a milestone in the church's journey, symbolizing unity, faith, and shared purpose as they embark on this new chapter together. | |
Rep. Garcia visited Lāhainā
In the aftermath of a devastating Lāhainā fire, hope and resilience emerged amidst the ashes. Earlier this week, Rep. Garcia flew to Maui to attend a recovery meeting. Rep. Garcia stood alongside Lāhainā Representative Elle Cochran, witnessing her unwavering dedication to their community. When the government failed to promptly respond, Rep. Cochran took matters into her own hands. Commandeering the park adjacent to her home, she transformed it into a beacon of support—a community resource supply hub. Here, amidst the backdrop of destruction, the spirit of unity and compassion thrived. Please continue to keep the people of Lahaina in Prayer.
