JOHN – THIS IS HUGE NEWS: There will be a Black Woman in the US Senate!
That’s right. California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that he will appoint Laphonza Butler to the US Senate, taking the seat of the recently departed Dianne Feinstein.
Laphonza Butler will become the only Black woman currently in the Senate – and the first openly lesbian Black woman to ever serve as a Senator.
She’s been on the frontlines of the fight for abortion access and workers rights, both during her time as President of Emily’s List, and her career as a union president and campaign advisor to Vice President Kamala Harris.
Here at The Collective PAC, we’re proud to see another Black woman serve as a US Senator – but the work is far from finished. Will you sign on to congratulate Laphonza Butler and show your solidarity for the fight to elect Black women everywhere?
Thank you,
— The Collective PAC
