John,
Aung* was just 16 years old when the lies of a trafficker left him trapped at sea, working on a fishing boat for 12 hours a day with no pay. He ached to go back home to his family in Myanmar.
Meanwhile, Aung’s mother worried day and night for her beloved son. She contacted a local non-governmental organization (NGO), which reached out to Myanmar’s Anti-Trafficking Task Force. The police took immediate action, and Aung was successfully rescued from the boat. With Aung out of danger, IJM stepped in with legal and aftercare assistance.

John, thanks to compassionate IJM supporters, Aung was given safe shelter and trauma counseling. Now, with your help, he’s been reunited with his family. Aung is back in school and is learning to smile — and to trust — again. Please

join us with your support today and help restore more survivors of modern slavery like Aung.
Backed by your generosity, IJM is helping to support Aung’s family in their legal battle to bring the traffickers to justice.
“We do not want other parents to go through the same feelings we had when our child disappeared,” Aung’s mother says.
We know you feel the same way, John.
