Monarchs' migration patterns are uniquely impressive. They travel around 3,000 miles every year, providing invaluable pollination along the way.
But the use of Bayer-Monsanto's Roundup has dramatically increased in recent decades, putting monarchs at risk. From 1987 to 2016, usage increased by over 2,600%! Why does this matter? Well, Roundup is killing off the only food monarch caterpillars depend on -- milkweed. Without milkweed, it is nearly impossible for monarch young to hatch and survive. But Bayer-Monsanto continues to mercilessly put its profits from Roundup over pollinators, people, and the planet.
And to make matters worse, a recent study highlighted a frightening fact: every single sample of milkweed collected was contaminated with pesticides -- one-third with levels deadly to monarchs. Young monarchs are hatching on toxic pesticide-riddled milkweed. Their first meal may be their last.
The dangers don't end there, Friend. Glyphosate is a probable carcinogen. It is also associated with reproductive harm in humans, along with disruption of the gut microbiome, kidney toxicity, and fatty liver disease.
