I need you to understand what happened in North Carolina last month:

TWO shootings halted classes at UNC-Chapel Hill – one of which took place on the FIRST day of classes.

After the first shooting, students described cowering behind their desks.

They said they texted their loved ones frantically.

They even climbed out of windows high off the ground to escape academic buildings.

A week after the first shooting, the students from UNC-Chapel Hill went to the State Legislature to protest bills to loosen gun laws.

They were kicked out of the session for demanding legislators take action on gun violence.

The NC House Speaker even JOKED about these students – who had JUST experienced a shooting at their school – as they were led out of the building.

A few days after the House Speaker kicked UNC students out of the legislature, those same students were forced into a lockdown due to a gunman on their campus for the second time in just three weeks.

How many times do our students have to go through this before legislators take us seriously?

Enough is enough.

I’m tired of so-called leaders offering up useless “thoughts and prayers” and then turning around and voting to make these massacres more possible.
