John, do you believe that President Biden should declare the state of our climate a national emergency right now?

We appreciate the work President Biden has done in regards to climate change in the last few weeks. In case you missed it, he created the American Climate Corps, “a new initiative to train young people in high-demand skills for jobs in the clean energy economy.” This program will not only create jobs for young Americans, but also instill a lifelong appreciation of our nation’s natural beauty & resources that will inspire respect for the earth.

However, there’s still so much work to be done. The federal government has enabled many new and destructive fossil fuel ventures, including drilling on public lands, the construction of Minnesota's Line 3 tar sands pipeline and the Willow Project in Alaska. It also authorized the laying of thousands of miles of pipelines to boost our liquified natural gas exports and the construction of the Mountain Valley Pipeline in Virginia and West Virginia.

One victory does not counteract the irreparable damage our society has allowed to be done to our climate. We’re calling on President Biden to declare the state of our climate a National Emergency and stop the federal approval of all new fossil fuel projects. Please sign our petition today.
