Republicans in Congress are right back where they started in January, John.

Kevin McCarthy has officially been ousted, and we're expecting another prolonged sideshow until a new Speaker is elected.

Today's GOP is clearly incapable of governing, and what's frustrating is that no work can be done until there's a Speaker -- including on finalizing a budget before the mid-November deadline. Failure to act means thousands of CA-27 residents will go without paychecks -- including our active duty military.

What's even more frustrating? McCarthy's leadership was on shaky ground, and instead of working toward compromise, my opponent Mike Garcia voted to cut federal wildfire prevention funding by over $2.4 billion – while representing a district that contains some of the highest fire risk areas in the country. Votes like this are dangerous and could put constituents’ lives and homes in danger.

Republicans in Congress have cast our country into chaos, and the blame lies squarely at the feet of guys like Garcia who claim to be problem solvers but engage in partisan nonsense.

I want to get your input on what's happening in Washington. What are your thoughts on McCarthy's removal and our path forward? Please take this short survey to let me know.

One thing is for sure, this saga makes it clear that we need new leadership -- in the House and in California's 27th District.

I look forward to hearing from you.
